10 Prompt Tips That Make Gemini Omni Flash Videos Look Better
When your clips keep missing the mark, the model is rarely the problem — the prompt is quietly leaving all the imagining to it. Each tip below changes one sentence, shows a before/after pair, and makes a visible difference.
The ten tips, biggest impact first
One clip, one action
A short clip has a few seconds to work with. Ask for two actions and the model splits the time, half-doing each.
Coffee pours into a cup, then the cup gets carried away while someone stirs
Coffee pours slowly into a white ceramic cup, steam rising
Describe the subject until anyone could picture it
"A cup" could be ten thousand things. Material, color, and state take the guesswork out.
A cup on a table
A grey crackle-glazed stoneware cup with rising steam, on an oak table
Move the camera once
Push, pull, pan, and orbit in one prompt gives you shaky, rushed footage. One camera move per clip is the rule.
Camera pushes in while orbiting and rising, then pulls back to a top-down shot
Slow camera push in
Specify the light
Lighting is what makes footage feel expensive or cheap. The same scene under morning window light and an overhead bulb are two different videos.
A bowl of noodles in a kitchen
A bowl of noodles in a kitchen, morning window light from the side, steam catching the light
Anchor style with a reference, not adjectives
"Premium", "aesthetic", "cinematic" are hard for the model to act on. Saying what it should look like beats stacking descriptors.
Premium cosmetic ad, aesthetic, beautiful, high-end
Skincare-ad look: soft studio light, cream-white background, slow product close-up
Say what must not change
Drift usually means the model quietly altered your subject. Naming the invariant is the single highest-value sentence in a prompt.
Show this pair of running shoes
Show this pair of running shoes, shoe shape and color stay exactly the same, background static
Do not ask the model for exact text
Signage and packaging text almost never renders correctly. Leave clean space in the frame and add the words in post — five minutes, versus ten retries.
A sign reads "Hill Coffee"
A wooden sign hangs by the shop entrance, blank center area, no text
Use a reference image when it must look real
For products, storefronts, and faces, text alone rarely nails the likeness. Upload the photo, then prompt the motion — consistency jumps a level.
(text only) A close-up video of our thermos flask
(image-to-video) upload the flask photo + prompt: flask resting on a stone counter, slow push in, droplets sliding down the body
Change one variable per run
If you change the action, the light, and the style together, you never know what worked or what to undo. Single-variable edits are the fastest iteration loop.
(v3) make it night, add rain, switch to wide angle, speed up the action
(v3) change lighting to warm streetlight at night, keep everything else from v2
Keep the prompts that work
A proven prompt is your most valuable asset. Next time, keep the structure, swap the nouns — the hit rate beats writing from scratch.
Writing every prompt from a blank page
Saving your own template: subject + one action + setting + light + one invariant
A 20-second checklist before you hit generate
- Count the actions: is there exactly one?
- Count the camera moves: is there exactly one?
- Delete empty words like "premium" or "aesthetic" — replace them with a concrete reference
- Confirm the light is described
- Confirm one invariant is stated ("X stays the same")
- Does the frame need exact text? Remove it and add it in post
Once all six pass, head to the generator and run a 4-second draft. The ceiling for your final video is set before you ever press the button.
How this relates to the template library
The template library gives you proven, ready-to-use recipes; this article teaches you to fix prompts when results drift. They work best together: start from a template, then apply these ten tips to the parts that disappoint. For a broader list of failure modes, read our article on the most common generation mistakes.
Pick one prompt and improve it right now
Paste your improved prompt into the generator, validate it with a 4-second draft, then decide if it deserves the HD tier.
